Snowmobiling Laws Of Webster

We need to remind our club members about the laws of snowmobiling in Webster.

REMEMBER THE TOWN'S SNOWMOBILE LAW
Hopefully this year the Town Board will not have to review the existing Snowmobile Law because of a few irresponsible individuals. It seems that every winter I receive phone calls and emails from residents whose property has been vandalized by snowmobilers. Last year Ialso had reports of snowmobilers driving their machines on the Hojack Trail, North Ponds Park, and on town owned open space property; even though these areas are clearly posted that such activity is illegal.

In case you are not familiar with Webster's snowmobile law, which is found in Chapter 185 of the Webster Town Code, here are some of the regulations:

  • No snowmobile operation between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. No person under the age of 18 years of age shall operate a snowmobile on any town street or public property, except when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. No person shall operate a snowmobile on any town street at a speed in excess of25 miles per hour.
  • No snowmobile shall operate upon any bare earth or upon earth lacking 3 inches ofsnow so as to cause any lasting depression, digging up or disturbance ofsuch earth. Damage to driveways shall be prohibited.
  • No snowmobile shall be operated in any ofthefollowing areas: North Ponds Park or any Town Park or upon the trails therein; the lands purchased by the Town of Webster pursuant to its Open Space Land Preservation Program Plan. [Portion of§185-71.
  • If you catch anyone breaking the town'-s snowmobile law, please contact the Webster Police Department by calling 9-1-1. Those individuals will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The average member is not at fault but we have a few people who still don't understand why it is important to follow the Law! If we lose our rights to snowmobile in Webster then then other towns will want to follow.

Its simple just follow the Law. Mostly respect peoples property.

Marty Lazaro has talked with both the Mayer of the Town and the Village and they both asked us to please get the word out to our members.
